My grandfather died last month, and hes going to be buried at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C., since he was a colonel. As a result, I must fly all the way across the country Thursday night (hence, missing my two-and-a-half hour Japanese class) in order to get to D.C. Im a bit excited about getting to draw pictures of people on the plane, except for the fact that I am going to be taking a red eye, so many of the lights will undoubtedly be off, and I will undoubtedly want to sleep for a majority of the plane trip.
~_~
I have been fairly busy the past few months working 20 hours a week, taking 17 units at my colleges...
But my boss has told me that theres hasnt been any business, so he didnt have me work last Thursday or this Tuesday. (I couldnt work last Friday because I went to LACMA for an art class field trip, and I cant work this Friday, either, since Im going to be on the opposite side of the country. So my paychecks for last week and this week will be very lighttoo light for my liking, since my dad was laid off last week, and Im the only person in my family with a paycheck. )

GRADES
I actually have an A in all of my classes...except illustration. I have a B+ in that class. Its because my professor didnt like the composition of my first project, so she gave me a B.
Ah well. -_- I cannot read that professors mind, so her grades on my projects are generally unexpected.
But the project Im doing right now is going to be awesome: I can already see it in the pretty watercolor wash Ive done in the background so far
JAPANESE
I wish I could do a written impersonation of my Japanese professors accent, but I cannot. She has a very thick Japanese accent, even though she is at least in her 50s, and she has lived in America since she was in college. Shes an adorable old lady and is the sweetest, most patient (too patient) professor Ive had yet. As in many classrooms, the smartest kids are in the front, and the stupid ones are in the back of the classroom, talking amongst themselves about non-Japanese related things.
Okay, so maybe the smart/stupid dynamic is an unfair stereotype. But my professor has already proclaimed me and two other girls the best students in the class, and all three of us just so happen to be sitting in a little clump in the first two rows of desks. Being her best students may have something to do with us actually volunteering ourselves for the class activities. A few weeks ago my professor practically forced us up to the front of the class and had us do role play: I was a waitress at a restaurant, and a Chinese girl who sits in front of me was the customer.
Another thing about this college that Im taking my Japanese class at: EVERYONE IS ASIAN.
Seriously. White people are a minority at the college.
And in my Japanese class, I expected to have a couple of classmates of Japanese descent: most of the people there are Chinese, actually, and theres only one guy in the class who is of Japanese descent.
Weird.

Pintsize: Who died and made you king?
Marten: Nobody. It's the Rule of Thumb. Whoever has thumbs makes the rules.
Pintsize: Well...you know who else had thumbs? HITLER.
Marten: You did not just pull a Godwin's Law on this conversation.
